Esparanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan
Esparanza rising is a great story with full of valleys and mountains. Abueilita (Esparanza's grandmother) tell Esparanza that life is full of valleys and mountains. Esparanza's story has many sad and happy events. Esparanza means hope in Spanish, and this girl has to believe that there is hope even when times are looking really bad. Esparanza was a rich girl who never knew how life could be any different until the day her father was murdered. From that day on, Esparanza's life changed forever. She and her mother have to leave Mexico and move to California. They become migrant farm workers and must work hard to keep alive. The conditions that the farm workers have to live in are unbelievable, yet Esparanza meets every challenge head on and uses lots of courage.
This a great story of hope. Read about what love of family, strong wills, and never giving up means to one girl named Esparanza.
